Director of Brewing Operations
After many years studying and teaching Latin literature — and about 350 batches of homebrew — Ben decided it was time for a career change. A great opportunity at Gritty McDuff’s thankfully brought him home to Maine after his graduation from the American Brewers Guild. As Head Brewer at Baxter, he’s enjoying working on modern equipment with all the amenities juxtaposed with old mill where his mother and grandfather both once worked. In his spare time, he enjoys watching hockey and baseball, brewing German and Belgian beers, gardening, cooking, and making his own sausage and sauerkraut, all with his wife, Anna. Luckily, he also loves walking and hiking. His favorite beer style, if forced to choose, is German smoked lager.
